RGS System - For welding & bolting.

The system consists of a frame, rubber blocks and a compression unit.

The frame is welded or bolted to a marine structure and packed with rubber blocks suited for each cable and pipe dimension. The compression unit is inserted to compress the rubber blocks against cables and pipes to establish a tight seal. 

  • OVERVIEW

    RGS & RGSO

     

    RGS is the standard frame for marine applications. It is manufactured from 60x10 mm flat bars. They may be used in both vertical and/or horizontal multiple frames. It is welded into an pre-cut hole in the deck or bulkhead. RGS is produced in steel, stainless steel, or aluminium.

    For installations where cables are already in place, specify RGSO, which has a removable end.  

    RGSF & RGSFB

     

    RGSF has a flange that allows the frame to be welded into a hole which is slightly larger than the frame. The flange is 60x10 mm.

    For installations where cables are already in place, specify RGSFO which has a removable end.

    RGSFB is for bolting. The bolted frames can be used in areas where welding is prohibited, or when the stress level induced by welding is unacceptable. RGSFB frames are supplied in kits, complete with drilled holes, bolts, nuts, washers and a gasket or sealing compound.

    For installations where cables are already in place, specify RGSFBO which has a removable end. 

    RGSC

    RGSC is a frame with rounded corners, which reduces the risk of cracks forming in decks and bulkheads that are subjected to heavy loading. Special cornerblocks and STG-endpackings with rounded corners are available.

    RGSK & RGSbtb

    RGSK is an extended frame recommended if pooling of water on the transit face makes it necessary to install packing blocks at a certain distance from the deck or bulkhead. The frame is 120 mm deep and can be installed as multiple frames.

    RGSbtb is a double frame which is packed from both sides, installations with this frame can be pressure tested from the space between the pack block units. They also conform to jet-fire rating. RGSbtb can be used to both protect cables from high water pressures, fire and eletromagnetic treaths with our EMC system. The frame is 200 mm deep and can be installed as multiple frames.

    RGSR

    RGSR is used in decks and bulkheads which are subjected to high degrees of stress. The additional rounded ends prevent stress cracking. The radius of the ends is 70 mm.     Insert Blocks

    MCT Brattberg’s insert blocks are manufactured from Lycron, a synthetic polymer that was developed to withstand fire, explosions, temperature variation, ageing, radiation and rodents. The blocks are injection moulded giving precision components to a high degree of accuracy. Standard blocks are available for cable diameters from 3,5 – 110 mm. Other dimensions can be supplied to order.

     

    stayplate

    To be placed between each row of blocks. Stayplates make installation simple, increase stability and anchor blocks within the frame. Stayplates are manufactured in galvanized steel, stainless steel, aluminium and brass.

     

    stg-endpacking

    Installed between compression plate and the top of the frame, completing the seal. Manufactured from Lycron with galvanized mild steel or stainless steel hardware.

     

    compression plate

    Inserted above the top row of blocks. It is equipped with a special telescopic bolt which is tightened to compress the system enabling installation of the STG endpacking. Manufactured from GRP, glassfibre reinforced polyester.

     

    ptg-presswedge

    Used as an alternative to the compression plate and STG Endpacking can also be placed anywhere in the frame. It compresses the system and completing the seal. Manufactured from Lycron with galvanized mild steel or stainless steel hardware.

    Available for 13mm HEX socket or ALLEN KEY 6mm.

         

    lubricant

    MCT Brattberg Lubricant consists of pure beef tallow. It is used to improve the system’s water and gas tightness and shall be applied on all Lycron parts sealing surfaces when such demands exist.

  • TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS

    RGS system

    The standard frame is made of flat steel bars 60x10 mm, in mild steel, stainless steel or aluminium. The mild steel frames are supplied with two types of surface finish, primer or galvanized. The internal width is always 120.5 ± 0.5. The standard height varies with the sizes - numbered 2, 4, 6 or 8, which give heights of 100, 159, 218 and 276 respectively. All the frames can be manufactured in combinations.
